After Cabane, presented in 2022, this is the latest creation by dancer-choreographer Lionel Bègue. Its title, Shibuya, is borrowed from the geography of Japan. It is one of Tokyo's most densely populated districts, a point of fascination where, with disconcerting fluidity, millions of people cross paths every day, without touching or even seeing each other. An urban crossroads of hypnotic power, an object of fantasy because of its mechanical power and erotic potential, this enveloping yet overwhelming place, where modernity and archaic impulses collide, is gradually being invaded by a tide of clothes. A flood that hinders the movement of the seven dancers, complicating their support, inviting them to adopt new postures, to lean on others, to change the way they look at things. It's a way of paying attention to the world that questions our society's consumerism and our excessive consumption of fashion.
